Effective March 1, 2012, Conestoga Insurance Brokers Limited will be under new ownership. Gerry Durocher, who purchased the business from his father, Frank Durocher, will be keeping the business in the family by selling the business to his son Matt Durocher, who has been with Conestoga Insurance Brokers Limited for the past 3 years. This will ensure the business will remain under family ownership for the third generation.
Gerry came into the Conestoga family in 1984 after 10 years of teaching high school at Southwood Secondary School here in Cambridge. In 1998, Gerry became the sole owner of Conestoga Insurance Brokers Limited. Gerry’s strong customer service focus provided the foundation that Conestoga Insurance has been built upon. Gerry will still be involved with Conestoga Insurance and will be a valuable resource for Matt during this ownership transition.
Matt has been in the insurance industry for the past 11 years. He began his insurance career working for Gore Mutual Insurance Company, after graduating from the University of Guelph with a degree in Management Economics. Matt held various underwriting and business development roles at Gore Mutual before transitioning over to Conestoga three years ago.
Matt has been serving as the Commercial Accounts Executive since coming over to Conestoga Insurance. He is looking forward to maintaining the strong community name of Conestoga Insurance. “Our competitive advantage is our customer service. At Conestoga Insurance customer service is the number one priority. We tailor our customer service approach to the needs and busy lives of our customers. Our goal is to take the pain issues away when dealing with your insurance issues.”
Conestoga will continue to put its customers’ needs first while developing on-line solutions for its existing and potential new customers. Along with the new website, Conestoga Insurance has launched a new Facebook page and Twitter feed.
